Accelerated Reader Program
The Accelerated Reader Program, created by Advantage Learning Systems, is a computer software reading comprehension testing program. Students choose from thousands of books, read the books, and take comprehension tests on the computer. Statistics for each student are compiled as an additional resource for assisting the students in improving their reading ability. more>>
Comprehensive Reading Plan (CRP)
The goal of the Miami-Dade County Public school's Comprehensive Reading Plan is to implement the developmental, accelerated, and preventative reading program requirements that will insure that students can read on grade level before entering Grade 3, and to diagnose and accelerate the reading performance of all students in all grade levels. Included in the plan are the standards, strategies, benchmarks, and assessments, which support the Language arts/Reading Competency-Based Curriculum and the sunshine State Standards. Waterford Early Reading Program™
A software-based curriculum, Waterford Early Reading Program™ by Pearson provides three levels of full-year instruction. From Level One for emergent readers through Level Three for developing fluency, Waterford Early Reading Program incorporates skills like letter mastery, reading and listening development, controlled and natural language stories, complex spelling,basic writing skills, and comprehension strategies. more>>
Reading Plus®
Reading Plus® is a comprehensive, evidence based software solution for reading assessment and improvement that develops foundational fluency skills for students of all ages. It is the result of over 70 years of research and development in the area of reading improvement technology. Reading Plus® addresses all the elements of reading cited by the National Reading Panel including: Phonemic Awareness, Phonics, Vocabulary, Comprehension and, what is most important, fluency. more>>
Brainchild Achiever-by-Stickybear
Achiever-by-Stickybear Reading will provide hours of stimulating early childhood reading activities. The program is simple and intuitive, giving your students the kind of unstructured, discovery-based learning activities recommended by the National Reading Panel. Reading for Life
Reading for Life is a volunteer community reading program to help children read in primary schools. Their philosophy is: if a child can read, they have the best chance to complete school, go on to further education, and get a job. They have the chance to be the best they can be.
Reading for Life is designed to support teachers. The program is run by business and community members that would like to give something back to their local community, while at the same time reaping substantial rewards for themselves. The Martin Luther King Elementary Program was started in 2006 by a group of attorneys whom are still active members and read to the students every Thursday.
