Jennell Newman Is Our Rookie Teacher Of The Year

Ms. Jennell Newman is a dedicated and hard working second year teacher, who began her career working with children in 1998. She has worked as an America Reads tutor, a paraprofessional, and as a substitute teacher at various Elementary Schools. Ms. Newman has always enjoyed working with children so it was only natural that she decided to pursue a career in teaching. She attended Miami-Dade Community College and received her Associates of Arts (AA) degree in Elementary Education. With her AA degree behind her, Ms. Newman was not finished; in fact you could say she was just getting started.

Enrolling at Barry University she later went on to receive her Bachelors of Arts degree in Elementary Education and graduated Cum Laude. Presently, she is pursuing her Master’s degree in Special Education at Barry University.

Ms. Newman is now in her second year teaching first grade at Martin Luther King Elementary School. Although she faces many challenges in the classroom, she is determined to make sure her students succeed. Her zeal and determination comes from her childhood says Ms. Newman “because as a child I was told that I would never accomplish my goals”. That is why everyday when she steps into the classroom she gives her students her knowledge, patience, love and support. She is the type of person who will continue to have a positive impact on our children’s education.
